Lt Col Jeetendra Mohapatro, a certified combat pilot has been serving the nation in uniform for 22 years. He cycled with Atulya Ganga Cyclothon for 635 km from Kanpur to Patna.
Though Col Jeetendra joined the cyclothon as an adventure activity, while on it he realized that the Atulya Ganga initiative is not merely an adventure activity but is about generating awareness about the rampant exploitation of our mother nature and in particular “Maa Ganga”.
During his journey with the team “Atulya Ganga” he closely saw the extent of damage to the ecosystem in the Ganga Basin and the visible effects on the river. Being a part of interactions with various groups, NGOs, School/colleges and villagers has widened my knowledge on the subject. He has realized that the problem is not localized to only river Ganga, but all major river systems in India. He has decided to implement and advocate at least two P’s of Atulya Ganga in his daily life, viz., ‘Plantation’ and ‘No to Single use Plastic’.
