Walkers that undertake the Mundman parikrama are taking up a very big challenge. For covering 5,000 km of walking, they will need to walk 30 kms a day for six days in a week for nearly eight months. Also, negotiating the mountain stretch from Gomukh to Rishikesh, where there is no road or track, will need basic mountaineering skills.
All those who volunteer as walkers will need to practice walking up to 144 kms a week as per the laid out training regimen. Volunteer only if you can sustain the training and the long haul that will need the walkers to be in top physical shape. You will need to submit weekly training logs. Your induction as a walker will be approved only after evaluation of your weekly logs.
